Canada Post

This whole Canada Post strike thing is stupid. From what I read most of the changes are being made to the wages and benefits of new employees. I was shocked to see that starting out they currently make $24/hour. Considering that you don't need any special degree or training for this job the wage is too high. The workers also should consider that there is less of a need for snail mail with all the electronic alternatives. If we want to continue to have this snail mail option there needs to be some sacrifices made. If not some of the current postal workers may find themselves unemployed.  I believe there is still a large market for this service but if it becomes too expensive people will look for other cheaper ways to send correspondence. They may argue that Canada Post makes a profit and can afford to pay this wage but you have to consider that profit is necessary for the growth of a business. Without profit there is no improvement and inevitably will lead to the business closing down. If the continue this "Strike" they will be jeopardizing their jobs in the long run. In the end I would say it is better to be employed then sitting at home with your thumb up your ass worrying about how you will pay all your bills.
